Since its establishment in 1989, LIDEX has grown from a small Translation Agency operating from a three-room rented office on Marszalkowska Street to Poland's largest company offering comprehensive language communication services.
Not long ago, translation and interpreting were standard services that satisfied customers' main needs related to their communication in an international environment.
he globalization of the market, rapid development of the forms and techniques of recording and transfer of information have led to a considerable increase in customers' needs and their expectations of translation companies.
Translation services have become just a part of what customers expect and their standard needs now include also:
- the provision of simultaneous interpreting equipment, conference systems, voting systems, presentations, videoconferences, recording, lighting, etc.
- localization of software, commercials, web pages and websites.
- sophisticated graphical editing of translated texts, graphics for conferences, fairs, presentations,
- sound post-production and editing of training or promotional films in any language version.
The list becomes longer and more diversified every day and with every new customer.
Throughout its history, LIDEX has not only monitored those global market trends, but has often been ahead of them, providing an excellent standard of services to a rapidly growing group of loyal customers. Many of our present customers have been with us since 1989.

April 1989
- the LIDEX Company was established
1990 - FIRST CONFERENCE
- our first conference, for the prestigious Sotheby's Gallery of London
1991 - WE ARE PIONEERS
- we created our own rules for translator/customer relations, which then become the translation industry's standard
1991 - 1999 PRESTIGIOUS ASSIGNMENTS
- during USAID's activity in Poland, we assisted the organization in performing its contracts dealing with the transformation of the Polish economy
1992 - COMPREHENSIVE CONFERENCE ORGANIZATION
- the first conferences organized wholly by LIDEX were several days' ventures (including accommodation, food, conference venue, interpreters, equipment, and a fringe programme) commissioned by ZAIKS
TENDERS
- we provided services related to the tendering process for a mobile telephone system in Poland (negotiations with the bidders, translation of tender documents) contracted by the then Ministry of Communications
since 1993 - LOCALIZATION OF COMPUTER SOFTWARE
- we completed our first software localization contracts
1994-1999 - OUR FIRST STEPS IN FILM
- contracts with FilmNet TV - translation and sound post-production of the entire programming (feature films, documentaries, commercials), translation of film and television programme descriptions
1994
- we built our own, well-equipped modern recording studio. This is where Polish versions of all programmes and films were created for the FilmNet channel.
WE WON THE FIRST TENDER IN THE INDUSTRY
- for the first time ever in Poland, a public tender was held for translation and conference services and LIDEX was awarded the contract by the Ministry of Privatization (a 3-week contract for the translation of interviews with candidates for the National Investment Fund manager positions)
1995 - BEGINNINGS OF UE INTEGRATION
- LIDEX carried out initial contracts for the translation and unification of key EU directives, commissioned by the Ministry of Finance (in all, 5 tranches funded by PHARE). Owing to those projects, we acquired extensive experience and expertise, which proved useful in executing subsequent projects of a similar nature.
1997 - OUR FIRST STEPS IN FILM
- in addition to FilmNet, we signed contracts with National Geographic and the Travel Channel. The Film Studio works two shifts
TRANSLATIONS FOR THE EUROPEAN COMMISSION
- we began a long-term relationship with the European Commission, which continues to this day
LOGISTICS
- logistic services (including the creation of a database of participants and PR) as well as language and technical services for the Bank Forum '97 conference
1998 - LIDEX IN EUROPE
- we established contacts and started cooperating with the European Union of Associations of Translation Companies (EUATC)
1999 - INTERNATIONAL EVENT
- at the invitation of Jolanta Kwaśniewska, we had the honour to provide language and technical services at the Congress of Queens and First Ladies held in Poland
OUR PROPRIETARY PROGRAMME
- launched our proprietary programme The Perfect Translator
2000 - OUR COMPLEX SERVICE
- through our Conference Service Department, Graphics Studio, and Translation Department we provided a service, which was very complex in terms of logistics (modern technology, innovative solutions) for the Congress of Olympic Committees under a contract with the Polish Olympic Committee
LIDEX FOR ITS TRANSLATORS
- we issued the first edition of the LIDEX Outstanding Translator Certificates (continued in 2001, 2002, 2003, 2004)
LIDEX FOR STUDENTS OF APPLIED LINGUISTICS
- we organized the first training seminar for students of the Institute of Applied Linguistics (continued in subsequent years)
2001 - ANOTHER INTERNATIONAL EVENT
- we provided language services for the 3-week preparations for President Bush's visit to Warsaw, as well as a comprehensive language and technical services during the visit itself (including the historic speech delivered by the US President at the Warsaw University Library)
ISO
- having passed the certification audit, we were certified to ISO 9001 : 2000 as one of the first companies in Poland and the first one in the industry
LIDEX AS AN INVESTOR IN HUMAN CAPITAL
- we were awarded the Investor in Human Capital Title by the Institute of Management
OUR OWN OFFICE BUILDING
- moved to our own modern office building at ul. Kawcza 44 in Warsaw
2002 - WE ARE THE LEADER
- ranked first among Polish translation companies (in the first ranking held by the Warsaw Business Journal)
FOR THE SECOND TIME, WE BECAME INVESTORS IN HUMAN CAPITAL
- once again, we received the Investor in Human Capital title
INDUSTRIAL SECURITY CERTIFICATE
- we met the statutory requirements of the Internal Security Agency and received the Industrial Security Certificate
INFORMAL NATO SUMMIT IN POLAND
- having met extraordinary technical, logistic, and, above all, security requirements, we provided services for the informal NATO summit in Warsaw
2003 - TRAINING FOR STUDENTS OF THE WARSAW UNIVERSITY OF TECHNOLOGY
- our Conference Service Department's Technical Section organized the first training events for students of the Warsaw University of Technology
INVESTOR IN HUMAN CAPITAL
- also in that year, we passed the test and audit and were awarded the title of Investor in Human Capital 2003

- LIDEX is one of the 19 winners of the Customer-Friendly Company Programme of the Institute of Management
2004 - ANNIVERSARIES
- 20 April 2004 marked the 15th anniversary of the establishment of our company. Anniversary Gala
- and on 3 July 2004 we celebrated the jubilee 5th Edition of the LIDEX Outstanding Translator Certificate
LIDEX - A CUSTOMER-FRIENDLY COMPANY AGAIN.
- we were among 17 winners of the 2nd edition of the Customer-Friendly Company Programme
2005 - THE THIRD SUMMIT OF THE COUNCIL OF EUROPE
- LIDEX provides a logistically complex simultaneous interpreting service for this important event
